Why is planting trees important?
Planting trees is the quickest, most efficient, and most cost-effective way to
remove carbon from the air and combat climate change.
How does it work?
-
1. Your tree is in the nursery.
Starting off as a seed in the forest, your tree must first spend around half a year in the nursery till it is tall enough to be planted in the wild. Before it's transport the seedlings are hardened off and adapted to harsher conditions, they will have to endure in nature.
-
2. Your tree is being transported.
A team of volunteers will transport your tree to its plant site. This process is often done in stages and using various modes of transport, sometimes even hauled on a horseback or in crates due to steep mountain slopes where vehicles often cannot reach.
-
3. Your tree is planted. Yay!
After planting, the young trees are fertilized and monitored around four times in the first, and three times in the second year to make sure they grow. After that the young forests are well established.
